Measuring the String Action
- Turn on the device
Switch on the Digital Action Gauge. - Position the tool
Place it perpendicularly on the fretboard, straddling the 12th fret.
The string should sit naturally inside the dedicated slot. - Set the rod-slider (“tastatore”)
Move the probe until it just touches the string.
⚠️ Be careful not to press the string down. - Reset the gauge
With the probe in contact with the string, reset the measurement to zero. - Push the probe downward
Now press the probe so that the string touches the fret (or the fretboard if frets are not present). - Read the action value
The display will now show the distance between the string and the fret.
If there are no frets, it will show the distance between the string and the fretboard.
